Shoulder pain
Shoulder pain is often due to soreness of muscles or the tendons that attach muscles to bones. Shoulder pain is also caused by problems in the joint where the arm bone joins the shoulder blade. Another cause of shoulder pain is soreness in the sac of fluid (subacromial bursa) that is under the shoulder’s highest area.
Pain often begins when you stretch your arm in an unusual position, sleep in a poor position, or have poor posture while working for extended times at a computer, hunching over a work area, or driving a vehicle for a long time without taking a break to exercise the shoulder. Other common causes are sports injuries, lifting or pulling something heavy, bumping, falling, or being in an auto accident.
A more serious condition may be indicated when your shoulder pain is accompanied by other symptoms. Tell your chiropractor if you also experience numbness or tingling in your back or arm, fever, sleeplessness, fatigue, or pain in other areas. Shoulder pain may actually be caused by nerve pain originating in other areas like your spine, neck or arms.
Shoulder Pain Relief
You should visit Atlanta chiropractic doctor Timothy Dembowski if you can’t find should pain relief after three days of self-care, when you have chronic shoulder pain that lasts for more than three months, or you have shoulder pain following an injury or auto accident.
After examining you to determine what is causing your shoulder pain, Dr. Dembowski may recommend one of these chiropractic treatments:
Spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustment is literally a “hands-on” approach in which your chiropractic doctor uses leverage and a series of exercises to adjust spinal structures and restore back mobility.
Chiropractic adjusting with instruments where the chiropractor uses the Adjustor or Percussor to manipulate your spine and joints.
Acupuncture with meridan therapy can relieve shoulder pain. Meridian therapy is acupuncture without the use of penetrating needles. Electronic stimulation, laser beam, or pressure massage triggers the release of naturally occurring painkilling molecules called peptides and keeps the body’s normal flow of energy unblocked.
Cold laser therapy uses a low power laser to treat areas experiencing lower back pain, stimulating cell growth and cell regeneration.
Spinal decompression with the DRX9000™ is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure treating lower back pain caused by disc herniations and degenerative disc disease.
