Chronic Headache

You have chronic daily headache if on half the days in the month you have a headache, and the pattern lasts three months. There are four kinds:

  • Chronic migraine headache usually has at least two of these symptoms: throbbing pain, moderate to severe pain, worsens with physical activity, and affects one side of your head. Chronic migraine headache is often associated with sensitivity to light or sound, or nausea.
  • Chronic tension headache usually hurts both sides of your head, has mild to moderate pain, and may involve nausea or sensitivity to light or sound.
  • New daily persistent headache lasts for three days, hurts on both sides of your head. Your head feels a mild tightening sensation, not a throbbing.
  • Hemicrania continua includes nasal congestion or runny noise, a tearing of the eye, or swelling of the eyelid. It affects one side of the head near one eye, and never shifts sides. It is continuous without pain free periods
